Research and Synthesization
Here is an diagram animation which provides you an overview of my whole research analysis.
Background
In the Information Age, more and more individual biomedical characteristics and activities are digitized. Only in 2017, over
310 million wearable devices were sold globally . Amazon Echo and Google Home will be installed in over 70 million households in United States by 2022, around 55% of all homes.
Industry Trend
Remot Control - Automation - Instruction
These three area are where most existing smart appliances focus on. Most design are trying to empower an individual appliance with power of connectivity and AI.

Regarding the system which is supposed to integrate every connected appliance together, its direction is still an invisible and intelligent ‘shadow’ which interact with users via screen surface or voice.
User Research
Three Typical User’s Cooking Flow
Observation Findings
Single users often miss the good timing of preparing a meal and neither do they know what to cook when they have to cook due to hunger
When users follow a new recipe, the cooking process is not smooth due to the difference between the recipe and real scenario.
Sometimes, users are following remote instructions to cook. They are doing video call for this process currently and it’s not a convenient experience
